When I read the script I kicked up such a fuss about the ‘melons’. Then, at the theatre, to my astonishment, i noticed everyone cracking up at that point!
Gritty… Hmmm. I did pause when I typed that – but I mean gritty in the sense this isn’t one of those boy-meets-girl-drives-into-the-sunset kind of stories. It’s far more real, admitting that life sucks sometimes, and you just have to deal with it.

No. I certainly respect the film’s ambitions but I did find its subjects a bit self-indulgent/ pseudo-intellectual and the humour, quite immature. But, the performances are really good and the film, a good attempt.

It came as a revelation to me too recently. We were always brought up to believe that it’s so much easier to connect with someone from the same cultural background, hence the arranged marriage system etc. But in reality, for this generation, that doesn’t hold true at all.
